When the housing market was crazy, I decided to become a mortgage broker.  And for a couple of years it paid well.  But with the economic meltdown and the housing market slide the past year, I wasn’t making enough to justify staying in the industry.

I grew up in Nebraska, so I think I take a pretty level headed approach to life’s problems.  Particularly since I moved to the Las Vegas area.  Just because I’m from flat land doesn’t mean I can’t manage the ups and downs in life 

I live and worked (formerly) in Boulder Junction, until I lost my job. Then my Kia needed a new transmission.  OK, I said, I’ll handle this.  So I found a new job – at Nellis Air Force Base.  That’s a 16 mile drive up Highway 15 you don’t want to do with a sick car.

In between jobs was four months of no income beyond unemployment benefits.  But back in the Midwest, we suck it up and do what we gotta do.  It’s no different in Vegas.  But because I was out of work so long I had bad credit and nothing left on the credit cards.  It sucks, but that’s the reality.
