I’m guilty of being one of those people who worries for months about something before he does something about it.  A recent experience with my health and a car title loan showed me how stupid that can be.

Because of my family history I have gotten colonoscopies every three years since I was 35.  But that was when I worked for a big company with generous health insurance benefits.  I joined a smaller company in East Las Vegas in 2006 for an equity position, but it fizzled out in a year due to the economy.  So here I am, four years past my last colonoscopy (which showed four polyps), with bad credit, little extra cash and the need to come up with $3000 to cover the cost of the procedure.

I tried not to think about it.  My girlfriend nagged me about it, but she works for a big company, she doesn’t understand the cost trade off.

But a bad dream woke me up in the middle of the night, so I went online to see if I could find some fast cash somewhere.  I lost my condo in the real estate meltdown, so I couldn’t do a home equity loan. But it occurred to me that my car could be the ticket.  I was surprised to see my Saab was good for $6000 at Las Vegas Car Title Loans, twice what I needed.  I filled out the online application in about 20 minutes and got the approval within an hour.  The next day I called my doctor and set up an appointment.

There were three polyps but no cancer.  Whew.  Funny, but once I put that behind me I felt more energy to go out and find a good job again – this one with benefits. Title car loans in these circumstances make all the sense in the world.
